Ryan Licht-Sang Bipolar Foundation: INSIGHTS VI
The INSIGHTS VI Juried Art Competition opened on November 30, 2022, and will close on February 28, 2023. Submissions are limited to "What It Feels Like To Have Bipolar Disorder." The Submission Period is now closed.

New York’s Dacia Gallery hosts its annual exhibition of exceptional women artists
Sherri Wolfgang was juried in for her jubilant piece, Taking Flight, part of a new series called Grounded/Ungrounded, which speaks to the tumultuous effects of the pandemic on the typical experience of an early 20-something.
“From 2020 to 2022, nearly every area of these young adults’ lives has been ungrounded, upended and rearranged, from their experiences of finishing college, to maintaining friendships and relationships, to starting their careers,” Wolfgang says. “Rather than crystalizing their understanding of themselves and the world around them, this generation finds itself yearning for any sense of normalcy and stability.”
Wolfgang seeks to capture the not-so-normal experience of becoming an adult in the 21st century through portraits of five 22-year-old women. Emphasizing the duality of being grounded and ungrounded, her new series attempts to showcase the resiliency of a generation denied a typical coming of age.

Sherri Wolfgang is featured in the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation Art Exhibition of Creativity and The Bipolar Brain, featuring the work of artists who have Bipolar Disorder. The INSIGHTS exhibition series is intended to raise awareness of Bipolar Disorder and to reduce the stigma associated with this serious illness of the brain by highlighting the creativity that can often accompany this illness.

A Time for Twosomes
Many good things come in pairs, including human beings. Though being on your own is absolutely fine, many folks prefer to be part of a couple. That relationship is often romantic, but not necessarily, nor does it necessarily remain so throughout. Moreover, there are plenty of friends, siblings (especially twins), dance duos, and work colleagues who thrive in couple relationships that have no hint of romance at all. And this is not even including animals, who often pair off for various reasons. Artists have long been intrigued by couples not only for their narrative potential (think Romeo and Juliet), but also because the body language of people who are just that comfortable with each other differs noticeably from other pairs’. As inveterate observers, artists get interested when they discern that distinction, and so we are glad to illustrate here an array of recent images revealing the almost infinite possibilities this timeless motif can evoke.
